English or Swedish

A few of our relatives emigrated to America and other parts of the world. The descendants, members of our extended family doesn’t speak Swedish. Most Swedes speak and understand english but it’s still a bit awkward for us Swedes to read about our close family in English and almost all the sources are in Swedish.

Many of the Americans are interested in their past and I’ve chosen to have all the basic info in English, dates, parents, spouses, siblings, children etc. That makes it easy for anyone to navigate the site.

The curriculum of each person will be in Swedish and most of it will translate good enough through Google Translate or similar online services.

Some of the articles that I plan to post here will be in English and som will be translated to English.

A little more about this site. I have a wonderful daughter, Parisia. This site is about all her relatives. That means that it will also be about all of my relatives, my wife’s, my brothers’ and my parents’. If you are a distant cousin of mine or of my wife you will find parts of your relatives here but not all of them.

This site is also in constant development. The research of our past will not be finished and done with, more photos will be found and more documents will be revealed from the archives.

Each family member get their own page with the basic data and a curriculum. All living family members get to choose what is there and what is not. The close family of a family member that has recently passed away will also have a big say in what information should be included.

Each family has it’s secrets and there are a lot of tragic episodes that you might not want to display in public. I do not want to hurt anyones feelings but I also want to tell the truth so there will be difficult trade-offs. The closer to our time, the more difficult.

In our family as in all families we find abuse, criminality and alcoholism. We find beggars, prostitutes, orphans, priests, nobility, doctors and professors. We can choose to be proud or ashamed of them, or just curious but they are all part of our history and tell our common story.

I need and I want help with gathering information and photos so please contact me or send me whatever you have that can help to write and display our common past.
